poll question for the women

Ok so we’ve all heard that during PMS we should stay away from sugar, caffeine and salt to help curb the body and mood problems, right?

What I want to know is……

Can it be done? Who really honestly and truly can stay away from the junk while the hormones are raging?

eh I think if you cut out all of the above, you’d be in worse form than if you had them in your diet! The body craves these things for a reason. To counteract the hormone imbalance that happens at that time. All you need to do is replace the unhealthy choices with healthier ones. Like… if you fancy chocolate, get >70% cocoa dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. You eat less and have your sugar craving sorted.

I agree, why fight the cravings? Everything in moderation is fine.

I don’t even try to fight them. I agree with chris that it’s better to go ahead and have a few bites of something than to deny yourself any satisfaction, which we all know leads to binge-ville. LOL

It is possible. But I also think that it is not good to even think about denying little treats, especially at this time. I LOVE a little dark chocolate. I have finally gotten use to my decaf green tea though. :)

Through my studies I have learned that cravings are either imbalances in the body, deficiences or food sensitivies or allergies.

But listen to your body. I have found this to be key.

Oh man, one thing I dont deny myself during pms is chocolate. I have a tendency to get really mean and being without chocolate just makes it worse. So, portion control but yes, I sure do indulge lol.

I personally thing it had to have been a man that said we should cut out all that good stuff, right when we need it most! And we all know men don’t know JACK! LOL Nah… if you crave it, and its PMS time.. for the sanity of all around you, go for it! The dark chocolate is good, and I do like it.. but if I’m craving chocolate really bad like at PMS time, it’s got to be milk chocolate!

I use to want 2 liters of milk, not one cup and use to want 2 chocolate bars instead of 10 grams of the dark and lovely chocolate…hehe. If wanting to the extreme, then maybe it is an issue. But hey, if you want a small piece of cake and something salty, eg., then so be it. Good luck.

I just finished my period and actually started it a bit after I started this new regime. I never gave in once! It depends how motivated you are! The fact is, even 1 piece is too much! You’re trying to make a life change, and tempting yourself with 1 piece of chocolate or one unhealthy meal will throw you off course. It’s do-able! (if that’s even a word, lol) Good luck!

I’ve noticed if I take my vitamin and calcium then I have less cravings. Sometimes I can fight them and sometimes I give in, it’s a crapshoot.

I agree, a man must have said that! :)

There is a middle ground between enjoying a small treat and using PMS as an excuse to pig out.

I’m dealing with this now! I did horrible 2 days ago and pigged out! I’m just trying to get through by drinking tons and tons of water and when I want chocolate I grab a 100 calorie pack! I don’t think I could deny it all together! Why bother?
